The A.T.P. Soldat (meaning “soldier” in several Indo-European languages), also known as the Advanced Soldat and Agent Mk0, is a major upgrade from the l33t agents and were planned variants to the A.T.P. engineers. It is the second type of unit birthed from the Accelerated Training Program, and like the engineers, they have yellow blood; instead of engineering gear, they are instead equipped with an eyepiece with a yellow lens, and a common agent uniform with a bandolier over it. As his collective name implies, Soldats are more focused on strength, rage, and aggression, making it a more specialized and skilled fighter within the A.A.H.W.'s ranks.
Soldats are far stronger and more skilled than A.T.P. engineers. This is likely due to the fact that A.T.P. Engineers debuted before the A.T.P. Soldats. In the canonical series, the Engineers appeared in Madness Combat 5.5, whilst the Soldats first appeared in Madness Combat 7.5. However, despite their advanced skills, it is implied they are not very bright; in Madness Combat 7.5 they are shown to be reckless and impatient; and in DISSENTER a Soldat unquestioningly obeys false orders made by 2BDamned to fire explosives at his own teammates (killing them), showing that their superior loyalty to orders can be taken advantage of since they ultimately do not question the directives they think are given to them by someone trustworthy.
Personality[]
Soldats have a personality similar to that of the A.T.P. Engineers. They're overconfident in their abilities, generally apathetic towards friendly casualties and can be described as foolhardy. Despite their otherwise unpleasant personality, they make for supremely qualified squad leaders, formiddable warriors and are an essential asset to any A.A.H.W. mission. Like all other A.A.H.W. units, Soldats are extremely zealous about killing Hank.
Appearances[]
Canon appearances[]
Madness Combat 7.5[]
The screen, which shows the evolution of the agents.
The A.T.P. Soldats were first seen in Madness Combat 7.5.
According to this diagram, the A.T.P. soldats are created as an upgrade to the l33t agent and are of the same rank as A.T.P. engineers. This screen also states that the characteristics of these agents include aggression, malevolence, and agility.
The first two A.T.P. soldats appeared in an observation room having an online chat session, under the screen name "OBSV032," with the Auditor. After seeing Sanford and Deimos clear a room of agents, they left with a Five-seven and an MP7 to "get them." However, it was only after they leave that the Auditor tells them that they are no match since the A.T.P. engineers have not yet upgraded them. Despite being able to blind Deimos with a flashbang, the two soldats were easily killed by Sanford.
Soldat facility
At the end of Madness Combat 7.5, in an act of desperation, an A.T.P engineer initiated an upgrade in the advanced soldat production. Although they fared much better than agents and engineers (they demonstrated somewhat high resilience, as although lower-ranking agents and engineers were killed easily by unarmed attacks, the soldats survived multiple punches and other attacks ), they are still killed by Deimos and Sanford, who were wielding melee weapons. After this failure, a close-up of the terminal screen indicated that a critical error had occurred in the system and that initiating the soldat upgrade temporarily halted the unit production. It also specified that the agent and advanced engineering units would be unaffected.
Afterward, the system attempted to recover itself. Deimos placed a time bomb on the terminal to prevent this. The terminal is destroyed, thus ceasing the unit production for the time being.
Madness Combat 9.5[]
A.T.P. Soldats appear prominently in The Other Place. Hank mocks them for only having one eye, this being the first time he has ever met them chronologically. Despite Hank still killing them all, they are notably more proficient in combat compared to agents and engineers, as they are able to dodge shots and even swing some hits at Hank.
Madness Combat 11: Expurgation[]
The Auditor-Tricky hybrid summons two A.T.P. soldats to attack Sanford, among other AAHW units.
A.T.P. soldats returned in Madness Combat 11: Expurgation for the first time in a canon episode since Madness 7.5. They appear as some of the A.A.H.W. units summoned by Tricky in the purgatory dimension Hank and Sanford were sent to. All of them were killed by either Hank or Sanford.
Madness Combat 12: Contravention[]
The A.T.P. Soldats return in the episode, fighting Sanford. Like in the previous instalment - Madness Combat 9.5 - they are shown to have good fighting skills - having quick reflexes, dodging shots, blocking melee attacks with their bare hands, as well as using a Ballistic shield to great effect, and quickly getting back up whenever they get knocked off their feet.
The episode also shows hierarchy as well as some instances of teamwork between the soldats and other A.A.H.W. units. One soldat in the episode seems to command or encourage an agent to proceed to battle before him, and one soldat is seen pointing into the distance, seemingly giving commands to the off-screen agents. One soldat at the beginning of the episode is seen helping his teammates get to an elevated platform, not engaging Sanford in combat until helping all of the teammates around.
CHASE.fla[]
The standard A.T.P. soldat appearance
Three A.T.P. soldats pursue Deimos into another dimension, where he kills them with his Club12. Notably, the soldats that were seen in the animation wear body armor from Madness: Project Nexus (Classic).
SACRIFICE.fla[]
An A.T.P. soldat wielding an Automag V is Deimos' first victim in the short, bludgeoned to death with his own pistol, and two more soldats are killed with the pistol.
ANAMNESIS.fla[]
A shotgun-wielding soldat in the animation kills Sanford once and is killed by Deimos twice. Another soldat appears in the episode, wielding an MP5.
POWERLESS.fla[]
The shotgunner soldat's corpse from the previous short appears at the beginning of the animation.
DedmosRebuilt.fla[]
ATP Soldat in an armored vest descending the chain in an episode of CHASE.fla
A single soldat appears in the animation at the end, bursting from rock, having smaller rocks on his face and holding a melee weapon. Like many of the other agents, he is significantly larger.
DISSENTER[]
Two Soldats appear in this animation. One is at a cliff receiving orders from a terminal to fire a stun bomb through the window of an unknown building. Another one is part of the A.A.H.W assault team and later gets killed by the main Soldat who fired a rocket at the door, killing the other Soldat with the splash damage. The main Soldat gets killed by 2BDamned using his trademark VSS Vintorez, shooting him in the eye through his binoculars.
An Experiment[]
The A.T.P. Soldat makes another appearance in this short. Like other enemies that have already been redrawn in DISSENTER and DedmosRebuilt.fla, the A.T.P Soldat has not been redesigned. Their first appearance in this short is one of them pushing an A.T.P. Engineer into a room. The same A.T.P Soldat that pushed the A.T.P Engineer into a room then went to a room with a Scientist watching a TV screen that is saying "HAZARD," marking the birth of Scrapeface. Shortly afterwards, Scrapeface bursts out of the room and begins advancing on the Soldat and the Scientist. The Soldat takes aim in an attempt to protect the Scientist, but is immobilised in place and begins glitching due to being exposed to Scrapeface's reality-warping powers. He is then launched at high speed into a wall, falls to the ground, and begins bleeding from all over his body, indicating that the impact with the wall was fatal.
Non-Canon appearances[]
Incident: 110A[]
The A.T.P. soldats are seen in this episode as some of the "100 sinners." They appear in a much smaller number than the l33t agents but in larger numbers than the engineers. Despite their supposedly improved abilities, they did not seem to fare much better than other enemy units.
Incident: 1000A[]
Exactly 1 A.T.P. soldat appears in the episode, killed by Hank almost immediately.
ROMP.FLA[]
A sole A.T.P. soldat appears in this animation, wielding a Norinco 97k. He is easily killed by Deimos.
Krink Test[]
One A.T.P. Soldat appeared in this short animation, armed with an AK-74U. Despite his best efforts, he is killed by Hank and later his corpse gets thrown and splattered on the floor by a half mag engineer in an effort to kill Hank.
Game appearances[]
Madness: Project Nexus (Classic)[]
The A.T.P. soldats, known as Agent Mk0's in-game, appear as enemies in Madness: Project Nexus (Classic). They have high TAC-bar health, making them harder to kill than grunts, agents, and Agent Mk1s. They also dodge more often and for a longer period, and move faster, making it more difficult to close on them in close combat.
Soldats appear alongside A.T.P. engineers in the back rooms of Arena Combat Mode. A.T.P. soldats are the most aggressive and bullet-resistant form of zombie in Zombie Arena Mode. In the Story Mode, they only appear in the later levels of Episode 1.

MADNESS: Project Nexus[]
ATP soldats appear in certain stages of Project Nexus' Story mode and Arena mode, such as the normal difficulty variant of the murder room. They retain their TAC-BARs from the first game and are more offensive fighters.
A.T.P. Soldats are the deadliest of the Agency's regular infantry units. They have the Tactical Journeyman Tac-Bar and use weapons of the professional and cutting edge categories. They typically wield powerful melee weapons or high caliber assault rifles. Soldats are also commonly seen leading squads of their fellow Agency members, acting as field commanders and ranged specialists. They aren't seen much in story mode, only showing up in Powerplay and Climb!, though they are seen much more frequently in Climb! especially towards the end of it. In Arena Mode, Soldats also only show up in two stages (Sleepwalker Bed and Fast Track) but are much more common, constantly showing up in the second and third checkpoints, as well as infinte mode.
The Nexus Core also possesses soldats, however these sport red blood (having no connection to the AAHW), red eyepieces, a balaclava, a red beret, armor, pauldrons, and an earpiece. This variation of the soldat has high combat prowess, possessing three corpus blocks and being capable of dual-wielding melee weapons.

Trivia[]
- Krinkels said he might start upping the skills of engineers and Soldats, to make them stand out a bit more, something that would be delivered in Madness Combat 9.5, with the Soldats displaying noticeably better acrobatic skill and aim than the standard agents.
- Krinkels said if the Soldats were fully upgraded back in 7.5 they will give Sanford and Deimos a very tough time.
- The eyepieces that the Soldats wear are called OBSV Goggles, as observed within the files of Project Nexus (Classic).[1]
- In MADNESS: Project Nexus the Soldat eyepiece is described as a Unigoggle.
- The first Soldat fought by Hank appeared to be extremely self-conscious of his single eye, as he responded angrily when Hank taunted him by pointing to his own eyes.
- Although it's unknown if this is intentional, the yellow-colored blood of Engineers and Soldats might imply that they do not have hemoglobin (a protein that carries oxygen throughout the bloodstream and gives blood its red color) in their body. This may further imply that they do not need as much oxygen as normal Madness Combat characters.
- When asked if a Soldat would be a good instructor, Krinkels said they could either potentially teach you how to be as Soldat-y as can be, or just throw you off a cliff.
- When Krinkels was asked again about the blood and related with old age, he states, “Hahaha "older age" gets a load of this guy”. This could imply that the concept of old age is something non existent in Madness Combat or is completely irrelevant.
- Whether the Soldat's eyepiece is simply worn or actually integrated into the character's head remains unknown, with the series having evidence supporting both claims. To add to the confusion, Krinkels himself said that he thinks the eyepiece "is built in their head" even though the latest canon entry - Madness Combat 9.5 - contradicts this statement.
- Technically, its first chronological appearance would be in Madness Combat 9.5, as it takes place after Madness Consternation and during Madness Combat 7.5.
- Old concept art shows that Soldats would boost teammates around them and would throw grenades. In the final version of the game, however, this is not the case.
