The AK-74U (or AKS-74U) is a shortened carbine variant of the AK-74.
An AK-74U without a stock was used by a grunt against Mag Agent: Torture in Incident: 011A. It also appeared in the beginning of Incident: 100A with a long-range scope. An agent used it to fire at a Deimos-like decoy. After he was killed, Sanford took it to kill several more foes. In Incident: 110A, Jesus telepathically fired the gun at several enemy units. In An Experiment, the AK-74U appears with its stock folded backwards, and is used by a Soldat to sacrifice an A.T.P. engineer to Scrapeface.
Krinkels drew a new sprite for the weapon for use in Madness Combat 12. The sprite wasn't meant to represent the AK-74U specifically - but rather just an unspecified AK rifle, but ended up resembling this weapon the most. While the twelfth episode was still in the works, the weapon has made an appearance in a short animation - Krink Test.
The weapon appears in Madness Combat 12: Contravention, being initially present in one room, leaning against a cardboard box. A Billy club-wielding agent, who runs away from Sanford, discards his melee weapon and rushes to grab the rifle. Before he can use it however, he is defeated by a shotgun thrown to his face. Later Sanford picks up the AK-74U to fight a Soldat, who uses a Ballistic shield to block many shots. The protagonist manages to kill two agents and eventually the aforementioned soldat, as well as injure one agent and kill an Engineer mid-air, with the enemy's mask being powerless against the rifle rounds. After the weapon runs out of ammunition, Sanford throws it away.
The AK-74U is a usable weapon in Madness: Project Nexus (Classic). It is the weakest rifle in the game.
