Hard Sell is a Siege arena stage in MADNESS: Project Nexus' Arena Mode. It takes place within an abandoned and mostly destroyed Nevada Supermall, and the enemy faction fought here is the N51, an insurgent paramilitary with trained, deadly soldiers.
Enemies and Layout[]
The arena consists of four rooms, one in the center, and the others at the west, east and north of the center room. The center room is where the Artifact is located and there are ramps leading to the stores at the sides.
The primary objective of the stage is to protect an Artifact known as the Enmeshment Core which is contained within a box, which enemies will try to open if given the chance in order to destroy its contents. The box has four locks on it, if all of them are unlocked then the box will open, leaving the Artifact vulnerable to attack. The N51 are also capable of setting up C-4 on the shutter doors leading into each room, allowing them to attack more aggressively.
Tips[]
- Squads of Recons and Commandos will gather at each of the three rooms around the center room, hiding behind cover. Once enough soldiers have accumulated in the rooms, the squads will initiate a full-scale push towards the Artifact's box from all directions. It's important to thin their numbers so their assaults are less difficult once initiated.
- The Artifact will remain safe so long as the box is locked. As N51's Recons are the only ones capable of disengaging the locks of the box, they are the prime target to be taken down and any stray N51 units can be picked off safely once all Recons have been disposed of.
- Commandos will periodically drop in the middle of the mall to plant C-4 charges on the store metal doors in order to give easier access to the incoming squads. It is important to dispose of them before they set up the C-4 sequence so Overwatch and Officers can't shoot you from afar and possibly stall you while other units engage the box.
- Assassins and Deltas will drop from the ceiling and engage the player character and their squad in an attempt to stall them while the Recons head to the box. Try to quickly locate and engage assassins as soon as they land so they don't become a problem when a full-scale advance is made by the grouping squads in the stores.
- Mortars appear at the very ends of the wave, and their attacks can be devastating. Luckily, Mortars may fire at and injure their own N51 peers if the player has the Mortars fire towards a clustered area. Use this to clear clusters of soldiers if they are engaging the box.
- Once the box is open, all you can do is defend it, as most N51 soldiers will then focus on the Artifact instead of the player and their squad.
- The store shutters can be repaired between waves in case they fall during one, that way you can set up a good defense again before initiating the next wave.
