Hell
The Auditor's hell dimension appearing in Madness Expurgation
Appearances

During Madness Combat 11: Expurgation, most of the fighting moves from Nevada to a new hellish dimension. This dimension is dubbed "Auditor (Hell)" by the Auditor when he is giving weapons to Hank to fight off Tricky's minions.

Even more so than Nevada, the Auditor's Hell is characterized by chaos and destruction, where the protagonists are assailed by a seemingly never-ending supply of generic foes to kill, and the color red fills the sky. In addition to the boxy greyscale buildings with square doors, Hell is also characterized by chains and spikes jutting from the rocky terrain. Oftentimes Hell's geometry will not conform to Nevada's reality, such as when special levers can manipulate gravity, and characters can impact with the ground only to crash through it and appear somewhere else, as if creating a portal. Another warped feature is the use of posters; while in Nevada these are often advertisements or public service announcements, in the Auditor's Hell they appear to be reflections of the Auditor's thoughts, filled with insults or passive-aggressive jibes at the reader's expense.

Whether through Tricky's influence or simply through the nature of Hell, the geometry of the plane seems to on a level unlike our own. Buildings are generated out of nothing; often with doors attached to ceilings, sideways or, in one instance, in the middle of where the ceiling and the wall meet. The only appearance of the interior of a building in Madness Combat 11 is when Sanford is slashing through waves of both AAHW troopers and Tricky's minions, where these strange architectural features serve as an entryway for the horde. Another violation of natural law occurs with the terrain, as it seems to be much less grounded and malleable compared to the ground in Nevada. Cracks have formed in Hell's rocky terrain and it's warped architecture, and chunks of both of these may be "pulled back" at will by some mysterious force in order to bring forth more enemies.

A strange phenomenon only seen within Hell is the sudden expulsion of weapons from one's body. Any one character will spasm for a moment before spewing forth a small collection of weaponry from their torso. This occurs multiple times throughout the animation, with both Sanford, a Tricky minion and Tricky themself falling victim to the phenomenon. Most of the time, however, these weapons are used by the protagonists.

Trivia[]

  • Hell shares many characteristics of The Other Place, though they are distinct from each other, as said by Krinkels.
  • Krinkles has stated that the Auditor is "a living avatar and gateway to a Hell as Nevada knows it", explaining the unusual usage of posters and possibly confirming that those he absorbs arrive here.
    • He also has stated that Jesus and the Sheriff went to "regular Hell" when they died.
  • In Madness Combat 12, Doc's resurrection anchors refer to this part of Hell as the "Employant Substrata."
