Dissonant Reality
Dissonant Reality, also referred to as Dissonance, is a type of energy deriving from The Other Place. It is capable of warping reality, deconstructing matter, erasing things from existence, and distorting the mind of everyone that contacts it. Dissonant Reality also serves as a partial gateway to The Other Place, as theorized by a Nexus scientist. The Dissonance energy was discovered by the Nexus Core when they accessed the Other Place to extract S-3LFs to Nevada, with dissonance being bioproduct from S-3LF. This process was very hazardous and ended up driving multiple scientists insane, with many of them developing a warped divine vision and even worshipping a fellow scientist as a true prophet of the Other Place. MERC was employed with creating hazmat gear to protect the scientists and MERC workers operating the S-3LF extractors in the Mining Sector but the effort was futile, with Phobos soon after ordering the company to stop producing the equipment.
After Dr. Hofnarr found out that Dissonance can be filtered out and be safely contained thanks to his patented Divergence Engine, the Nexus Core used it for various purposes once Phobos found out about this containment procedure: they repurposed the hazardous material as a source of power; weaponized it by creating various weapons using Dissonance as ammo, such as the Dissonance Cannon; and it was used to create combat units that are powered by Dissonance, examples being the Conduits, Lamenters, and the Dissonant G03LMs. Dissonant Reality can be manipulated by the Keystone Fragment, the user being able to use the energy as a weapon, such as the Nexus Bolts.
