Rifles are shoulder firearms that usually have long, grooved barrels. These guns have become more common in the newer episodes of the Madness Combat series. They are usually longer-ranged and more powerful than submachine guns and pistols, though not used as often. The first rifle was an M16 seen in Madness Combat 2: Redeemer.

Types of rifles[]

There are many different types of rifles. In the Madness Combat series, there are four main types: assault rifles, battle rifles, carbines, and sniper rifles.

Assault rifles[]

Assault rifles are characterised by being capable of select-fire, having a detachable magazine, and by having an intermediate-power cartridge (videlicet, more power than a pistol cartridge, but less than that of bigger rifles).

Battle rifles[]

Battle rifle is a term that is used to describe a service rifle that fires a fully-powered rifle cartridge, but still capable of select-fire (including full automatic).

Carbines[]

Carbines are rifles that have had their barrel shortened or initially designed with a shortened barrel. As such, most carbines are compact variants of existing longer rifles, or are versions of existing rifles that have been re-chambered to fire less powerful cartridges.

Sniper rifles[]

Snipers rifles are long-range rifles designed with high-precision in mind. Depending on the calibre, they can be anti-personnel or anti-materiel.
